about

Graeme Sutherland (Pleb Records, Manager)

I was impressed by this young bands enthusiasm and drive towards getting their music out there - I remember Kenny coming to visit me in my office in the summer of 2003 and telling me all about how awesome his band were, his passion alone got me interested.

I'd seen posters all over the town but didn't know much about the lads apart from that they were all too young to get in to the pub, which was proving a stumbling point getting gigs. I decided to take to boys under my wing in a management sense, booked them onto few live shows, pushed them to other promoters and did whatever I could to get their name out there to the masses.

After working with the boys for a few months, we decided to put a record out - all home made stuff - recorded in the rehearsal room onto ADAT tape and mixed on a cheap set of pc speakers in my bedroom - I remember the complaints from my mum about the smelly old borrowed mixing desks, compressors and the likes scattered all over my bedroom, not to mention the screaming trash metal that accompanied.

The mini-album shifted piles of copies at local shops and at gigs, quickly burning out my printer ink like crazy. We also received a pile of (mixed) reviews from webzines and magazines including one from Germany that once translated sounded pretty dire... But the highlight for the band came with a place in the T-Break heats in 2004 - now this was really something to have a young thrash band competing for a place at T-in-the-Park, albeit against all odds and gigs with indie artists galore - needless to say, we didn't win, but it's the taking part that counts.

With a fair bit of experience under their belt, Forced Asphyxia racked up more headline gigs, support slots (including one with metal legends DEICIDE at Glasgow's Cathouse) - this mini-album certainly brings back a lot of great memories for me, I hope you all enjoy it!
